On Thursday 2nd June 2022, beacons were lit across the country in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. In fact, a total of 1,500 were lit and Gotherington Scouts played a part in lighting a beacon.

Attended by Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers along with leaders, families and local people, a beacon was built and lit on Woolstone Hill. Lord Lieutenant of Gloucestershire came to mark the special occasion with a toast to the Queen.

It was also a memorable moment for some Scouts who were invested during the lighting of the beacon.
